ERB PROFESSIONAL EXAMINATIONS

The Act 1997

The Board provides professional examinations as an alternative route to professional registration. This route caters for applicants with academic qualifications of Advanced Diploma (ADE) or Higher National Diploma (HND) in the category of Technician Engineers. It further caters for other categories of engineers who fail to satisfy the Board of their academic knowledge in engineering. The professional examinations are offered in accordance with section 10(1) (b)(iii) of the Engineers' Registration Act No. 15 of 1997. Currently, the Board is offering professional examinations in six engineering disciplines, namely:

(a)	Civil Engineering	(d)		Telecommunications and Electronics Engineering
(b)	Mechanical Engineering	(d)		Telecommunications and Electronics Engineering
(b)			(e)	Environmental Engineering
(c)

	Electrical Engineering		(f)
				Chemical and Process Engineering


The examinations are preceded by review courses which are conducted for eight (8) weeks from January to February for March sitting and July to August for September sitting. The Board engages on average a total of 30 course reviewers, examination Setters/Markers and four to five Moderators at each sitting.
The registration and examination fees for each candidate are Tshs. 10,000/= and Tshs. 50,000/= respectively. A candidate wishing to attend the review courses will be required to pay Tshs. 250,000/= (currently) as tuition fee.
