Practising Licence — Renewal Requirements

Section 12A of the Engineers Registration Act Cap. 63 requires every Professional Engineer (PE), Consulting Engineer (CE), and Independent Consulting Engineer (ICE) to hold a valid Practising Licence in addition to their Certificate of Registration. Regulations 21 and 22 of the Engineers Registration Regulations 2010 govern the procedure and conditions for issuance and renewal.

The Practising Licence must be renewed every 3 years for PE, CE, and ICE holders, and annually for Temporary Professional Engineers (TPE) and Temporary Consulting Engineers (TCE). Renewal is subject to meeting CPD requirements and having no outstanding fees.

📊

What is a PDU?

One PDU = one contact hour of attendance or involvement in a structured CPD activity. Activities include training courses, conferences, seminars, workshops, writing technical papers, mentoring SEAP trainees, and others as defined in the ERB CPD Framework.
