Dr. Alice Isibika holds a degree in Chemical and Process Engineering, a Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Technology. She has been serving as a lecturer, researcher and consultant at the University of Dar es Salaam since 2010. Her expertise focuses on recycling biodegradable waste into animal feed and organic fertilizer using Black Soldier Fly Larvae (BSFL) technology, contributing to sustainable waste management and circular economy solutions.
Dr. Isibika played a key role in re-establishing the Women Chapter of the Institution of Engineers Tanzania (IET) in 2015, where she initiated and led programs to train and empower women engineers and secondary school students, many of which continue to run to date. She served as Chairperson of the IET Women Engineering Chapter from 2015 to 2018 and was also a Council Member during that period. Together with her team, she founded the Tanzania Women Engineering Convention and Exhibition (TAWECE) which continues to be held annually. She currently serves as Vice President of the Institution of Engineers Tanzania (since 2022) and has been a Council Member since 2022. She is also the Chairperson of the Membership and Professional Development Committee (since 2023). At the continental level, she is a Theme 4 Lead for the Federation of African Engineering Organizations – Women in Engineering (FAEO-WIE), addressing Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and a member of the FAEO Academy Committee.
